Tamworth Christmas Fair

Some of Tamworth’s most well known musicians are performing at the annual Tamworth Christmas Fair on Saturday 20 November donating their time and talent to brain disorder research. This is the seventh Christmas Fair, organised by the North West committee of the Brain Foundation, and this year the highlight is a feast of live music.

Promising a whole day of shopping in style in the picturesque gardens of the Tamworth racecourse, stall holders display unique Christmas gifts from jewellery to jam, while shoppers are captivated by the beat of live jazz and good coffee.

The Fair hosts a swag of different stalls to tantalise the Christmas shopper. Jewellery, home wares and fabrics, belts, bags and hats, antiques, cards and stationery, clothing, spices, garden sculpture, fresh flowers and plants are all for sale.

As well as all that the gorgeous Annette from Under the Loupe will be there with her beautiful jewellery which she creates in her home studio on their farm.  Check out her wares.

Entertainment for the kids includes face painting, a jumping castle, mini trikes and a visit by Rodney the Clown. Everyone can enjoy creating a work of art at the Sand Wizard stall.

After all that shopping you’ll need a coffee or lunch and the committee provides a delicious fresh chicken salad or quiche plate, or the Lions barbeque is in full swing. Freshly Berried is serving berries and ice-cream and the Jockey Club bar is open for a cool beer or wine with lunch. Imagine sitting under the plane trees soaking up jazz music and enjoying good food and wine, knowing your Christmas shopping is all wrapped up!

Established in 1970 by Australian neurologists and neurosurgeons, the Brain Foundation aims to reduce the incidence and impact of disorders of the brain through provision of support, community education and research.

From the proceeds of the 2009 Christmas Fair, the North West committee of the Brain Foundation donated a massive $15,000 to support research entitled “Do strokes cause dementia?”
