Who Inspires You?
Every so often I come across someone who really inspires me. This could be through work, socially, someone from my past or someone I find out about through reading about or listening to.
I have been very lucky throughout every part of my life that there has been someone there behind me, pushing me, challenging me, making me laugh and giving me something to aspire to. These people come to me in many different ways and most are ordinary, every day people just living their lives.
I always come away from these moments feeling lighter, calmer, happier and like a little bit of sparkle has been dropped into my being.

As part of the ongoing fundraising efforts to assist women on the Monaro battling cancer, Berridale is holding a traditional and stylish Afternoon Tea on behalf of the Cancer Council and in particular their very successful Girls Nite In fundraising arm.
The day will be held at the Berridale CWA Hall and gardens on 30 October 2010 commencing at 2pm and finishing at 5pm.
Throughout the day we will serve all of the traditional delicacies of afternoon tea as well as hold

Calling all who care about finding a cure for Breast Cancer
Register4 is Australia's first online community for volunteer breast cancer research participants. Its helps researchers spend less time and money recruiting volunteers, so they can spend more time finding better preventative measures and a cure.

Loving Sex and The Country in Hay, NSW
Not so very long ago the very talented and gorgeous Sharni from Sharnanigans had an idea to put together a 'Sex and the Country' photoshoot in Hay, NSW, or the One Horse Town as Sharni refers to it. The photoshoot would celebrate meeting online friends and to show you can have an amazing time no matter where you live. Using professional photographers and stylists Sharni was able to realise her dream.

Open Gardens
The lovely Annette from Under the Loupe has sent me details of some beautiful gardens which are open this weekend in her area of the world this weekend. Enjoy. These gardens are listed in the Australian Open Garden Scheme.

Australia's Open Garden Scheme - Mullamuddy Park and Riverlea (near Mudgee)
Mullamuddy Park
Guided walk with Micael Bligh at 2pm each day
Parkland setting for contemporary house with flowing borders of hardy cottage favourites
Grassed terrace, raised vegetable and herb gardens.
Entry: $6
Funds raised for Kananda, Mudgee
I have been to a workshop conducted by Michael Bligh and it was the best garden experience I have had. It is well worth a visit to any garden that he has designed.
Directions: From Mudgee travel south on Castlereagh Hwy for 9.5km and turn right into Horse Flat Lane. Go further 1.5km. Access suitable for small buses.
Riverlea
Mediterranean style garden designed to provide spaces for relaxation and home grown produce on 3acres.
Collection of drought hardy salvias, rugosa roses, olives, grasses and clumping bamboos
Garden and jewellery stalls. Tea and lunches available.
Entry : $6

Directions: From Mudgee travel south on Castlereagh Hwy for 17km to Riverlea Road on left. Garden is second house on the left, approximately 600m from highway.

The Cream of the Crop Competition provides an innovative and fun tool for students to document and share with others their studies and story. The competition is open to students in NSW secondary and tertiary education institutions involved in agriculture, primary industries and natural resource management studies.

With a small committee of eight volunteers, the Frocktober Canberra team have fresh and innovative ideas to boost knowledge and awareness of this cause throughout the Canberra community. Frocktober is all about: Increasing the public’s awareness of ovarian cancer, promoting women’s health and wellbeing andd celebrating the great diversity of shapes, sizes and colours women come in. Liebe Bluhm vintage is launching a gorgeous collection of vintage frocks, perfect for the dress-up season ahead. Enjoy a fashion parade, good music and have fun with friends. $10 at the door with all proceeds going to Frocktober, helping to raise awareness of ovarian cancer. A Passion for the Bush
There is nothing more Australian than the bush.
Fiona Lake has created a wonderful website which includes an online gallery, store and blog.
Fiona grew up in NSW and now lives in Townsville, QLD with her husband and sons. She combines her love of visual arts with her passion for the bush.
