Pink Pigeon Race Day

Bring the family by 7am on 5 January for breakfast prior to the start of the great Pink Pigeon Race.

Held on Jane McGrath Day, (Wednesday 5 January 2011), coinciding with Day 3 of the iconic Sydney Test, 24, 12 representing Australia and 12 representing England will take to the skies above Glenn McGrath Oval in Narromine and race across the NSW outback to the tiny wheat town of Trangie (The Trangie Pub!).

The pink pigeons will be released from Dundas Oval, Narromine’s number one cricket oval at 8am. Channel Nine is likely to be covering the event prior to the Test Cricket broadcast and you can even have a bet on the pigeons through Betfair – money raised will be donated to the McGrath Foundation. Narromine Shire and Narromine District Junior Cricket Club, in association with local businesses, will be hosting a free BBQ breakfast from 7am at Dundas Park in Narromine before the start of the pigeon race. ZOO FM will also be broadcasting live from 6am. A junior cricket match and Milo cricket demonstrations will also be held after the pigeon race, so wear some pink clothing and join us for breakfast in the park.
