Easter in the Country - Roma QLD

Brad McCaw

SWINGIN ON A STAR – 1940’s Dinner Dance Party

Saturday 23 April 2011, 6.30pm – 10.30pm

“Would you like to swing on a star, carry moonbeams home in a jar…?”

The first line of the lyrics of the famous 1940’s song by Bing Crosby “Swinging on a Star” is the theme for this year’s Saturday night event on the Easter in the Country festival program in Roma.

The evening will have all the glamour and glitz of the 1940’s and will feature the music of Bradley McCaw and The Get Happys who bring back the presence and style of ‘the jazz clubs of old’, in the spirit of Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and even Michael Buble. Local dance studio, Dance wEST03 will be showcasing the style and technique of swing dancing to inspire you to get up and ready for dancing the night away.

A 1940’s style dinner will be served during the evening with a bar available for when you want to sit back and relax and put your feet up for a while. Everyone is encouraged to dress in 1940 attire or WWII Service Uniforms, but it is not required for entry.

Easter in the Country President, Lyn Kajewski says “This fabulous 1940’s Swing Dinner Dance Party has been added to the program this year to remember all the glamour, music and dance of an era which evolved from a period in time when the world was at war. So, put on your dancing shoes, glam up 1940’s style and dance the night away or if you’re not into dancing, come, sit back and relax while sipping on a martini and soak up the atmosphere of a time gone by.”

Tickets are Adults $35.00, Children Under 16 $15.00, Children Under 5 Free, Family Deal $80.00 (incl 2 x Adults, 2 x Children U16). Any additional Child U16 $10.00 and are available now from Kimlins Camping World, 78 McDowall Street, Roma Ph: 07 4622 1327.
