“From Saddle Bags to Designer Bags - and Everything in Between”

This is an annual community event that celebrates women in our rural communities. The event showcases local women's talents through storytelling, performance and participatory arts activities. It also provides women in rural and isolated areas with a point of access to their communities.

This remarkable event--held at the Dalgety Hall on the banks of the Snowy River--has sold-out consistently for the last several years, filling the Hall to capacity and reinforcing its connection with rural women.

This year’s Dalgety Women’s Day is just 3 weeks away and bookings are now open. Tickets for the day are $10.00 per person, which includes morning tea and all day entertainment. To ensure you don’t miss out, please book early by calling the Snowy River Shire Council on 6451 1195, or calling in to the Shire office, Myack Street, Berridale during business hours. Except for community groups, we are asking that bookings be limited to four persons per booking.

Bookings will close on Friday, May 6th (unless sold prior, in which case you can add your name to our waiting list). Please remember that there will be no ticket sale on the day and entry will not be allowed without a pre-purchased ticket.

We hope that you will join in the fun of the day and, bring along your favourite, most fashionable or just everyday handbag, and maybe win one of the great prizes on offer - keep a lookout for our handbag spies, you never know where they are.

Guest speaker, Jackie Furey, is a trained psychotherapist and the director of her company “From the Bedroom to the Boardroom”. Originally from Ireland, Jackie has travelled extensively during her career and is very keen to be part of Dalgety Women’s Day. She will provide us with food for thought and give us an uplifting, fun filled presentation.

We have a few more surprises to be announced, so please keep an eye out for more news on this as we get closer to the day.

Dalgety Women’s Day will run from 8.30am to 3.30pm. You can bring your own lunch or order it from the ladies from the Dalgety branch of CWA at a cost of $10.00 per person. Please call Judy Walters on 6456 6729 to order your lunch. Orders will be taken until Friday, May 6th.

Car parking is available and we will have car parking attendants to make sure that you park in the correct area around the hall.

Community group or individuals are welcome to book a stall on the day (fee applies) - please ring Narelle Willems on 6457 1044 for further information. All stalls will be outside, and some shelter will be available.

The ‘Friends of Dalgety Women’s Day Committee’ wish to acknowledge the contribution of the Snowy River Shire Council and all our other sponsors who make this very much anticipated event possible. The committee would also like to thank the local businesses and community members who have been able to support us with prizes for the raffle on the day.

The Dalgety Women's Day is a wonderful event and well worth getting along to
