Dads only.....

Dads Only! seminar at Dubbo RSL this Thursday night with parenting author Maggie Dent.

She recommends clear messages about respect and love from the fathers of teenage girls to help them make bad decisions when choosing male partners in the future.

"Maggie Dent is a well known parenting author who is in the western region this week to present a number of talks on different aspects of raising a family. Maggie will focus on the teenage years and the importance of Dads in these seminars. She says unless a girl gets a clear message about respect and love from her Dad (or other authoritative male role models), girls risk making bad choices when it comes to choosing male friends and partners in the future.

Maggie says teenage boys and girls do need different things from their parents. Boys often need rules, routines and ridiculousness from their Dads; while sometimes long lectures from Mums are lost on teenage boys. Maggie says the pressures on women to look and act in a particular way are more intense than ever before, increasing the importance of that special bond between mother and daughter.

Maggie will be talking to school students in Dubbo and Coonamble today and tomorrow and will also host an Adolescence Unplugged talk at the Walgett Sporting Club tomorrow (Wed) night. Maggie is also offering a Dads Only! Seminar at the Dubbo RSL on Thursday night."
