Rural women showcased in new book

Minister for Primary Industries Katrina Hodgkinson has launched a new book, Daring to Dream 2, that brings together stories of inspirational women from rural backgrounds.

Daring to Dream 2

“From North Coast cheesemakers to Merino wool fashion designers and tablelands organic chicken producers, the stories’ subjects are as diverse as the regions of NSW they represent,” Katrina Hodgkinson said.

“But what these inspiring women’s stories share is a common determination to follow their personal dream, and make a difference.

“The book aims to recognise rural women playing key roles as achievers and agents of change across a range of areas including agriculture, business, community, sport, the arts and natural resources.”

Katrina Hodgkinson said the book offers readers an opportunity to understand the challenges and rewards experienced by women as they overcome the difficulties of pursuing careers in rural and remote locations.

“By sharing their stories, the women featured are also providing a practical mechanism for connecting with other rural women, and an important avenue for mentoring and encouragement to others,” she said.

“Their stories of striving to achieve personal goals will provide inspiration to anyone with an interest in rural NSW.”
The latest book in the Daring to Dream series, Daring to Dream 2 features twenty-five incredibly diverse women from across NSW and includes high profile leaders alongside many remarkable 'unsung' heroines.

Their stories display creativity, perseverance and resilience. Each of the women showcased in the book freely shares their knowledge and experiences to provide inspiration and ideas for others who may want to start on a daring to dream journey of their own.
