What Rural Women Want

“33% of all Australian women live in rural areas. We are not a special minority group – we are a basic component of the Australian population, and one which makes a significant contribution to the national economy. The demarcation between rural and urban women in Australia should be only about geography not disadvantage. The difference lies in the distribution of the resources and opportunities” said Lesley Young, Chair of the National Rural Women’s Coalition, (NRWC) a coalition representing over 250,000 Australian women.

“We know what rural communities want and are happy to help and advise all those who support sustainable regional development and social equity”

The NRWC has identified 9 practical ways in that they expect the future government to ensure a fair go for rural Australians.  Courtesy of National Rural Women's Coalition
