Volunteers needed for 'Opera at The Dish'

Opera at the Dish

Parkes Under the Stars presents Opera at The Dish on Saturday evening October 8 2011.

The event that is set to dazzle Parkes is only six weeks away and Parkes under the Stars Committee are seeking volunteers to bring the event to fruition.

A volunteer committee has worked tirelessly for the past 15 months to make this unique event a reality and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation who have recently placed a breast care nurse in the Parkes, Lachlan and Forbes Shires.

Volunteer co-ordinator Carolyn Rice said "The Parkes community is renowned for the support they give to community events and their willingness to volunteer. We have seen the success of our Elvis festival with the support of so many volunteers so once again we are calling on you to help us deliver another successful Parkes event".

Opera at The Dish will be a spectacular concert of well known songs from musical theatre and opera, titled Bellini to Broadway - this will be a truly memorably evening. Tickets are selling extremely well and it appears
there won't be any difficulty reaching the audience target of 2000.

Areas that volunteers will be required to assist are raffle ticket sales, gate entry and ushering, setting up chairs, some tables and marquees on Friday with pack down on Sunday. Manning the information tent, providing refreshments for performers and other little jobs that all go with delivering an event of this calibre. If you can assist in any way we need you, and would appreciate your help.

For further information or to register for volunteering please contact volunteer co-ordinator Carolyn Rice on 02 6862 2778 or email

A volunteers briefing session will be held on Wednesday 5th October at 5.30pm in the committee room at Parkes Shire Council.
