Town offers reward for finding it a doctor

If you know an experienced GP obstetrician who'd like to work in a remote rural settting, you could earn yourself $20,000.

The town of Bourke in western NSW is looking for a senior doctors with obstetrics training and the sizeable bounty has been posted for the right candidate.

Ochre Health manages the GP practices in a number of Australian country towns, and provides full time and locum doctos to the bush.

The company's owner and chairman of the board, Dr Ross Lamplugh, says it's experimenting with new styles of recruitment.

"We've got this great database now of people which includes practice managers and doctors that work for us," he said.

"Why not go out to our internal database, and we'd prefer to give them the money than anyone else, and say 'look, do you guys know the person that we're really looking for in Bourke?'." via
