Women in Grains/Cropping Story Needed

Allison Priest from Rural Women's Network is looking for a rural woman involved in grains and/or cropping to be featured in an industry profile for their upcoming edition of The Country Web.

The Country Web No.55 Cover

This next edition is an important one as they have themed it around Australian Year of the Farmer and are profiling women farmers.

The purpose of the industry profiles is to highlight agricultural industries and to educate people about the importance of farming as well as to build the profile of women in agriculture. It's also about giving people an insight into life on the land and the skills, training and experience required.

Allison has come up with some key questions which will form the basis of the story. Please let her know asap if you would like to be profiled as she needs a story in the next week Email: allison.priest@industry.nsw.gov.au

1. What's your background? (Looking for a short snippet about you and how you came to be on the farm as well as some info about the farming enterprise. Perhaps also something about your involvement with WINCOTT)

2. What does your typical day at work involve?

3. What do you love most about what you do?

4. What are you doing on the farm that is innovative or improving the industry? What are you plans/goals for the future?

5. What has been the most important lesson you have learnt from farming?

6. As a woman in primary industries what has been one of the most difficult things you have faced?

7. Do you believe women are more widely recognised and valued for their contributions to rural Australia.

8. What advice would you give to women looking to get involved in the cotton industry?

9. What is the thing you find most enjoyable about living in the country?

10. With 2012 Australian Year of the Farmer, why do you think it's important to celebrate this special year and how do you plan to be involved?
