Entries are open for the ninth annual Henty Natural Fibre Awards, which celebrate natural fibres from the paddock to final use in fashion.
The Henty Machinery Field Days (HMFD) provides $3500 for the awards and winners will be announced on the final day of this year’s field days, Thursday, September 20, 2012.
Open to amateurs and professionals, the awards recognise the use of natural fibres – wool, cotton, angora, mohair, cashmere, linen, silk or combinations thereof, in creative but wearable garments.
Entries close September 8
The judging emphasis is on creative and innovative use of the fibres – not necessarily the quality of the garment construction.
Entries in the awards will be modelled on each day of the Henty field days, with parades at 1pm in the Country Lifestyle pavilion. Students in Year 10 at Billabong High School will be the models, with TAFE hairdressing and beauty therapy students from Albury, Wagga Wagga and Griffith creating hairstyles and make-up for the models on Tuesday and Wednesday and students from Riverina Community College taking over for Thursday.
