Hey All Cranky Bears

In the Jingle Jangle Jungle on a cold and rainy day,
four little friends found a perfect place to play.
Moose had marvellous antlers and Lion, a golden
mane. Zebra had fantastic stripes and Sheep . . . well,
Sheep was plain.

National Simultaneous Storytime, now in its 12th successful year, is organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). It is a colourful, vibrant and fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age appropriate themes and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Grades 1 to 6.

The 2012 National Simultaneous Storytime book is:
The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland

Nick was born on a farm in Victoria's Yarra Valley in 1973. The son of an artist and a primary school teacher, he spent his early childhood climbing haystacks and making mischief in his father's studio. When he moved to 'the bush' at age 6, he discovered a wonderful new world and his creativity bloomed.

So on Wed 23 May at 11am attend one of the many venues for a reading of this gorgeous book or read it yourself.

  1. This is a fantastic initiative and I'll be sharing the joy as one of the readers at my old primary school in Boomi (Pop. 75), northwest of Moree, NSW.
