It still makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it.
It was silent.

The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) 2012 National Congress

The National Farmers’ Federation (NFF) 2012 National Congress will take place at the Australian Institute of Sport Arena in Canberra on Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 October. 

The Congress will bring together Australian agriculture: farmers, industry and government from grass roots to global, to tackle the challenges of the food and fibre boom.

Katie Barton died unexpectantly on the 22nd of November 2009, leaving a vision unfullfilled; to create a collection of art for the Wellington community, to be enjoyed by all in perpetuity.  After Katie's death her husband and a group of her friends decided to try and make her dream a reality.

The Papillon collection is the result.  All the art works have been donated, a big thankyou to all those who have donated art works and all who have helped realise Katie's dream.

Saturday 24th November 6pm

2013 Regional Flagship Event Program EOI Funding

The 2013 Regional Flagship Event Program Expression of Interest (EOI) is now officially open for regional events to apply for funding.
Funding of $10,000 one-off grants or triennial funding of $20,000 per year for three years is available to event organisers to support the attraction of visitors through the marketing and advertising of regional events.
If you would like your event to be considered for Regional Flagship Event funding please complete an Expression of Interest form.

Please ensure you have read through the terms and conditions to ensure your event is eligible to apply.

Expressions of Interest will close at 5pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012.
Any EOIs received after this date will not be accepted.

Event for Young Beef Cattle Enthusiasts

The 2013 Angus Youth National Roundup is being held from the 17th - 20th January at the Dubbo Showgrounds. This event includes numerous educational sessions, competitions & fun activities for participants aged between 8 & 25 years. Novice & experienced participants alike are invited to attend 
the Roundup. An animal can also be arranged for any participants who can not bring their own. There are a huge range of prizes & awards on offer that the Roundup each year including a scholarship to NZ & the chance to win a registered Angus heifer.

Maggie Beer, will be a guest speaker at the NRWC Conference Dinner at Parliament House on Tuesday, 19 February 2013. The Dinner is a collaborative partnership with the Canberra Centenary Celebrations and the contribution of all women to the fabric of Australian life will be celebrated.

With numerous jobs in a variety of fields appearing on Maggie’s work history in her early years, it wasn’t until she moved to the Barossa Valley in 1973 and started growing grapes and breeding pheasants that her career began in the world of food and spans farming, food production, exporting, food writing and television presenting.

Liz Davenport, leading Australian fashion designer and businesswoman will deliver a keynote address at the conference. Having been involved in the fashion industry as a designer, manufacturer and retailer for more than 35 years, Liz is about to publish her first book and is one of only five Australian designers to receive the highest fashion accolade - a Grand Award from the Fashion Industries of Australia.

The second keynote speaker to be announced is Commissioner, Elizabeth Broderick, who has been the Australian Sex Discrimination Commissioner since 2007. During her term she has been committed to improving gender equality through her advocacy in preventing violence against women and sexual harassment, improving lifetime economic security for women, balancing paid work and unpaid caring responsibilities, promoting women’s representation in leadership and strengthening gender equality laws, monitoring and agencies.

CASP Closing date

Applications are open for the 2013 Country Arts Support Program (CASP), which offers small grants up to $3,000 per applicant, to regionally-based arts and community organisations and local arts councils for short-term, locally-initiated projects.

CASP is an annual small grants round, funded by Arts NSW, with the responsibility for local administration passed on to regional arts agencies.

The program provides funding towards a small number of local projects each year with a maximum amount of $3,000 per project.
It is recommended that interested groups download the forms as soon as possible and applicants must contact their regional arts body to discuss their project.
The 2012 CASP small grants round is open to projects taking place between January 1 and December 31, 2013. Applications close on October 2.

Fifty Shades of Midlife

The ‘Fifty Shades of Midlife’ is an online webcast soon to be streamed online.  It is presented by Jean Hailes, a women’s health organisation of national reach with a focus upon prevention:
The ‘Fifty Shades of Midlife’ webcast event will feature a number of women’s health experts, and is to be hosted by Dr Sally Cockburn (aka ‘Dr Feelgood’) with topics including menopause, mood, sexual health, nutrition .  This is the second webcast that has been coordinated by leading women’s health organisation Jean Hailes (JH), with the first a resounding success with over 2000 women across Australia ‘logging in’ to view on the webcast night. 
This event will be screened live online on Wednesday 31st October from 7.30pm to 9:00pm.  This online event will facilitate access to leading women’s health experts in a highly engaging format, particularly suited to those unable to regularly or easily access specialist women’s health services.  The event will also be available online as an enduring resource following the October 31st screening, accessible from the Jean Hailes website for those unable to tune in on the night!
As our key focus is reaching the community,  JH is encouraging community groups to register to provide a screening session for local women to attend ( Jean Hailes will support events by providing regular event updates, promotional materials and resource packs for participants.
Jean Hailes for Women’s Health is a leading women’s health organisation is based in Clayton, Victoria, with clinical care, research and education.  Its program of work is national in focus, providing preventive health strategies for women across the country.  It seeks to drive evidence-based responses to preventive health by adapting research and clinical care knowledge into information and education to meet the needs of diverse health consumers.  This includes developing innovative ways of sharing and communicating evidence-based health information.

Board Diversity Scholarships Are Now Open

The Board Diversity Scholarships are jointly funded by the Australian Government's Office for Women and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. 

Seventy full fee scholarships for women will be offered, providing the opportunity to attend the Company Directors Course or Mastering the Boardroom program. Scholarship recipients also receive complimentary twelve months membership. 

Only highly experienced women who are looking to develop or further extend their directorship career will be considered. 

Applications will close on 5pm AEST Thursday 11 October 2012.
