New Rural Health Network at Agency for Clinical Innovation

The Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI) is establishing a Rural Health Network as an additional network to the 27 clinical networks which are already established, and are calling for Expressions of Interest from interested persons to be involved.

The purpose of the Rural Health Network at ACI is to gain health service provider and consumer/carer participation into the co-ordination and implementation of models of care and innovation in ways that meet the diverse needs of rural communities. The Network will consist of two co-chairs (one clinician and one consumer), an executive committee, and interested rural and remote clinician, consumer and stakeholder members who will form working groups related to core business of the Network as required. The Rural Health Co-Chairs, through the Executive will provide strategic advice to the new Rural Health Unit which is being established within the Ministry of Health.

There are 4 levels of participation:

Network Member - Mailing List
Working Party activities
Rural Health Executive
Rural Health Network Co-Chair (2 positions- 1 clinical, 1 consumer/carer)

This is an exciting development which raises the profile of access and equity to rural health services - now recognised by the Ministry of Health with the establishment of a Rural Health Unit and a Rural Health Ministerial Advisory Committee.

Registrations to be received by COB 21 December 2012
