2014 Resilient Australia Awards


The Resilient Australia Awards recognise innovative practices and achievements that are making our communities safer, stronger, more resilient and better prepared to manage any emergency situation. The awards cover all aspects of community safety and resilience with an emergency management focus including prevention, preparedness, response, recovery, risk assessment, research, education, training and knowledge management.

The 2014 Resilient Australia Awards Categories are: 
·         Not-for-Profit sector (including volunteer, youth, community groups and organisations) 
·         Education and research sector (including primary, secondary and tertiary education
           institutions and research organisations) 
·         Private sector (including individuals, small to medium enterprises, businesses and
           infrastructure providers) 
·         Photography 
·         Local Government 
·         State and Territory Government 
·         Australian Government 
  
Entries to the awards are encouraged from individuals, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, volunteers, private business, industry, educational and research bodies, and all levels of government. 
  
Judging of the awards occurs on two levels - State and National. NSW winners are recognised at a ceremony at NSW Parliament House and then go on to be judged at the national level along with entries from across Australia. 
  
The awards are sponsored by the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department in conjunction with State and Territory Governments with MPES coordinating the awards program for NSW.

Suicide Prevention Workshop, Wednesday 23 July 2014 Dubbo

Wesley LifeForce will be conducting a Suicide Prevention Workshop at Quality Inn Dubbo International, Squatters Room – 165 Whylandra St, Dubbo NSW 2830 on Wednesday 23 July 2014 from 9 am – 4 pm. There is no charge to attend the workshop.

The program helps participants recognise when a person may be having thoughts of suicide, and provides a simple strategy to intervene and assist them.
