Do you provide care and support to a family member or friend with an illness, disability, mental health illness, is frail aged or has an alcohol or other drug problem?
Are you aged 12–25 years?
Are you currently studying or wishing to return to study or training?
If so, you may be eligible to apply for a young carer bursary!
Applications open on 18 August 2015 and close on 28 September 2015
Some young carers are missing out on education or training because of the emotional and financial pressures they face. The Young Carer Bursary Programme provides financial assistance to help support young carers to complete or return to education while continuing their caring role. The Young Carer Bursary Programme will grant 333 bursaries at $3,000 each in 2016. A bursary is similar to a grant. It is not a loan, and so does not need to be repaid. The money can be spent on whatever helps you with your education or training. If you are successful in your bursary application it will be up to you and your family to decide how best to use the money to help you with your education or training.
Who: Young carers, aged between 12–25 years old, who are currently studying or wishing to return to study or training are encouraged to apply.
When: Applications open on 18 August 2015 and close on 28 September 2015.
